Chip Chomyn

Chip Chomyn

President / Managing Principal

Chip Chomyn is the President and Managing Principal at AMG Research, a position he has held since 2009. He has been with AMG Research since 1994 as Director of Sales & Marketing and has held previous marketing positions at Westinghouse Electric Corporation.

Chip brings more than 20 years experience in marketing and sales and, over that time, has been involved in more than 1,000 market research studies. He works very closely with AMG Research’s clients and helps to bridge the gap between market research information and providing business intelligence. Chip has presented at conferences on subjects such as customer satisfaction, finding new market opportunities, and conjoint analysis for new product development.

Chip holds a Master’s Degree in Bioengineering from the University of Pennsylvania and an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering from Duke University. He combines his technical education with marketing and business experience. He is especially interested in helping medical and industrial businesses in new product development, pricing, segmentation, and market analysis.

Outside of work, Chip enjoys coaching soccer, playing tennis, hiking, and camping.

As Vice President and Director of Operations at AMG Research, Brian manages the day-to-day direction of our Project Management, Programming/IT, and QA/QC teams to ensure that projects are completed on time and on/under budget, while meeting or exceeding client needs. Brian also works to ensure continuous improvement and innovation in our research methodology, workflow, internal processes, and company culture.

Brian holds a Doctorate in Social and Economic Sciences from Technische Universität Wien, a Master of Science in Environmental Economics from SOAS, University of London, and an undergraduate degree in Anthropology from the University of Pittsburgh. Brian has experience conducting quantitative and qualitative research on three continents, with a particular focus on pricing and valuation studies, and has authored a number of peer-reviewed articles on non-market valuation and survey methodology.

Rich Carlson

Director of Sales & Marketing

Rich Carlson is the Director of Sales & Marketing at AMG Research, a position he has held since 1998. In this role, Rich works closely with Industrial, Commercial, and Association clients to craft research proposals to address their sales and marketing issues.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in Economics. Prior to joining AMG Research, Rich worked at ABB Power T&D as a marketing consultant and managed a vehicle graphics company. His diverse background in marketing, business management, and research serves his clients well during the development of research proposals.

In addition to his sales position, Rich is also the head chef at company functions. His charcoal grill travels to company retreats and to the office for Stanley Cup playoff and Super Bowl lunches. Most everyone who’s eaten his cooking has gone on to lead normal lives.

Outside of the office, Rich can be found hiking and mountain biking throughout Western PA with his family.

Dan has served as the Director of Business Development at AMG Research since 1997. He is instrumental in identifying new business / customers and works closely with the account executives to assist in fostering relationships with existing clients.

Dan has more than twenty years of marketing & sales experience. Prior to joining AMG Research he held a similar position with the Fitting Group, a branding & advertising agency, also located in Pittsburgh, PA.

Dan earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism / Communications while attending Point Park University.

Dan’s interests include: golf, hockey, landscaping and vacationing at the beach (where he typically enjoys additional rounds of golf).

Mandy Rupert

Mandy Rupert

Qualitative Manager

Mandy currently holds the position of Qualitative Manager at AMG Research. She joined the team in September of 2005. Mandy has successfully managed over 250 research studies using a number of different research techniques.

As the Qualitative Manager, Mandy handles the set-up and logistics for many of the focus groups, IDIs and in-depth interviews conducted by AMG Research. She is also a trained and experienced moderator. She has conducted hundreds of one-on-one in-depth interviews and focus groups all over the US. Mandy is experienced at interviewing a wide variety of audience types including physicians/surgeons, nurses, pharmacy directors, top level decision makers, first responders and consumers. She also received her level two Moderator Training Certificate from the Burke Institute.

Mandy currently holds a Master’s Degree in Project Management and a Master’s Degree in Business Education both from Robert Morris University of Pennsylvania and an undergraduate degree in Marketing from Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania.

Outside of work, Mandy enjoys spending time with her family, watching any sport her kids are playing, being outside and the company of her dog.
