Understanding Barriers to Women’s Participation in Clinical Trials

AMG Research is proud to have partnered with the Center for Connected Medicine at UPMC to better understand barriers to women’s participation in clinical trials, what drives decisions around participation, and what steps might be taken to increase participation. In a national survey of 400 women, we found strong interest in participating in clinical trials, but concerns about side effects and logistical burdens hold many potential participants back. The study suggests that consistent, clear communication from trusted clinicians and more flexible trial designs could significantly improve trial enrollment. We hope that these insights may help support more accessible, patient‑centered clinical trial experiences for women moving forward.
